Welcome to Carrigallen GAA Club
Welcome to the Carrigallen GAA Club Founded in 1889 as The Official Carrigallen GAA Club is located in the South East of County Leitrim, between the borders of Cavan and Longford. club caters for players at all age levels from U-8 to Senior in gaelic football. We currently have both a Senior and Junior team playing in Division 1 and Division 4 of the Leitrim Leagues complemented by a very active and successful underage structure.
Carrigallen GAA Club was initially named after Mandeville, an MP for Mitchelstown, County Cork, who was associated with the Land League. The club recorded its first success in 1912 with a victory over Cloone before disbanding two years later.
Football returned to Carrigallen in the 1920s with three clubs, Tully, Drumeela and Carrigallen competing in the area. Drumeela captured the first Championship for the parish in 1928 winning the Junior title. Tully was one of the greatest teams in the County from the mid 1930’s until the mid 40’s contesting six Senior Championship finals, winning the Senior Championship in 1945 while Carrigallen recorded a success in 1941. Carrigallen’s most recent appearance in a Senior Championship final was in 2009.
The club has a long and distinguished history having won many honors including two Intermediate titles in 1991 & 2006 and the club are proud to have provided many players to the Leitrim Senior and underage panels.
The Carrigallen club, as always, welcomes new members, both in a playing, coaching or team-assistance capacity. Furthermore, if you wish to make contributions to this website in terms of match reports or photographs, your input will be appreciated.
