Mistaken Identity

Last week congratulations were offered to club player Paul Harrington and his wife Michelle, which of course was major mistake. So congratulations again to Paul and Lorraine on the birth of Aoibhinn. We hope all are well.

Ladies Final

St Joseph's ladies play the final of the Intermediate Championship this weekend against Ballinaglera. The girls have played well all year and were unlucky in the league final where they fell to a strong Kiltubrid side. A win on Sunday would see them promoted to the senior ranks. Good luck to Darren, Ray and the girls. Please support the girls in Ballinamore at 12:00pm on Sunday.

Great Win
Well done to the senior panel and management on the great victory Sunday evening in the semi final against Melvin Gaels. It was a good solid performance from the lads given the terrible conditions, however, there are no medals or cups handed out for getting to a final. Knuckle down lads.

Sympathy

All in the club would like to express their sympathies to the Honeyman family of Ballinamore on the death of their father Peter at the weekend. Peter's daughter Catherine Flynn is a stalwart of our club serving as treasurer and currently insurance officer while his grandsons David and Ciaran Flynn played starring roles in many great victories for the senior team over the years, most notably last Sunday evening when they played their hearts out. May he rest in peace.

New Arrivals

Congratulations to club player Rory Harte and his wife Mary on the birth of their daughter Maura recently. Congrations also to Paul Harrington and his wife Michelle on the birth of Aoibhinn. We hope all are doing well.

Good Luck Dromard

Best of luck to our neighbours Dromard who take on Clonguish in the Longford County Final this Sunday. It was noted the great support our lads got from Dromard people last Sunday evening in Carrick so if you're free next Sunday, you could do worse than head along to support them.

Club Merchandise

A variety of club gear, replica jersey's, polo shirts, t-shirts and flags will be available to order in Pat Mastersons Gala Shop. It is vital that you place your order and payment as soon as possible to ensure that you get your colours in time for the big one in a couple of weeks. Please contact Pat instore for more details.

HARD LUCK JUNIORS
Hard luck to our young junior team on their defeat to Eslin in the quarter finals of the Junior Championship last Saturday evening. It would have been a big ask of this young panel to pull off a shock victory over a physically strong and experienced Eslin first team but for long periods of the first half last Saturday a shock looked likely. Our lads totally dominated the first twenty minutes tackling with ferocity and attacking at speed. The only thing missing was the final ball which let us down on too many occasions. During the opening twenty minutes we took a 0-3 to 0-0 lead while also registering nine wides. This profligacy in front of the posts encouraged Eslin and they were always going to muster a comeback and they duly did to narrow the deficit to one point at half time with Carrigallen leading 0-4 to 0-3. When you have a team on the ropes as we did in the first period you need to take your scores. If we took even half the chances we would have been in a very strong position at half time. Eslin started the second half in devastating fashion and in no time had raced into a six point lead before the half way point, from then on we were playing catch up and could never really get back into the match with Eslin running out winners on a scoreline of 1-13 to 1-7. It was a good performance from the lads but there are regrets all the same after our first half display which deserved more on the scoreboard. It’s been a good year for the juniors with promotion and progress in the championship so well done to team and management. Team: Dermot Lyons, K Gray, B Doyle, A Kenny, F O’ Rourke, D Reilly, L O’ Rourke, D Mc Govern, H Magee, E O’ Malley, R Reilly, C O’ Neill, K Ward, R Harte, S Mc Cabe. Subs: Danny Lyons, S Smith, D Mulligan, N Reilly.

CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL
Next Sunday our senior team take their place in the semi final of the championship where they will face Melvin Gaels. With five first teamers out through injury our cause has not been helped but the lads will still give it their all as they go in search of a first appearance in the final for Carrigallen in 17 years. The match takes place in Pairc Seain on Sunday evening at 6:15pm. Plenty of support would be welcome. Good luck to team and management.

SPONSORSHIP
Last week we put in the notes a report on recent sponsorship of a set of polo shirts for the senior team. Many thanks to senior player Eamonn Dolan who organised sponsorship and purchasing of the shirts. In the coming weeks there will be a full list of sponsors published.

STILL GOING STRONG
Well done to veteran Brian Doyle who gave an outstanding display for our Junior team at full back last Saturday. His vast experience and brilliance under the high ball was there for all to see and put a lot of the ‘younger’ players in the club to shame. Well done Brian!

CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY
Well done to our senior team on their brilliant win at the weekend over Annaduff in the championship. The second half performance was as good as we've played in a very long time. Well done to team and management but keep the feet on the ground. No medals or cups are handed out to semi finalists. Team and scorers: Enda Lyons (0-1), Barry Reilly, David Flynn (0-1), Karl Ward, Terence Reynolds (0-1), JP McManus, Ciaran Reilly, Clifford Richardson, Gary Reynolds, Martin Dolan, Eoin Ward (0-2), Andrew McManus (0-1), Benny O'Rourke, Ciaran Flynn (0-6), Killian Ward (0-1). Subs: Eamonn Dolan for Benny O'Rourke, Noel Doonan for Eamonn Dolan.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

This weekend attention turns to our Junior team who play Eslin in the quarter finals this Saturday in Ballinamore at 5:30. This young team has performed exceptionally well all season and another big performance is needed if they are to advance to the semi-final. The senior players were delighted with the great support they received last weekend and we ask all our fans to once again back the lads on Saturday evening. Good luck to the team and management.

MJ's BAR SPONSORSHIP
The club and in particular, the members of the senior and junior squads would like to express their sincere thanks to MJ's Bar and Patrick and John Mitchell for their very generous sponsorship of a set of O'Neills Polo Shirts for all the panel. This very generous sponsorship is much appreciated by the players. Many thanks again to Patrick, Yvonne and John.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Over the last number of weekends our junior team has put in some fine performances to seal their place in the quarter finals of the championship. First up they defeated Sean O' Heslins in a thriller on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-12. This performance was all the more commendable considering the lads fought back from a six point deficit to edge out the Ballinamore men. Team on the day was as follows: Dermot Lyons, Killian Gray, Ciaran Harte, Anthony Kenny, Dara Brady, Derek Reilly (0-2), Francis O'Rourke, Rory Harte (0-7), Hugh Magee (0-2), Conor O'Neill, Charles McGuinness (0-3), Liam O'Rourke, Stephen Kenny, Darren McGovern, Killian Ward (1-0). Subs: Sean McCabe (0-1) for Stephen Kenny, Peter Farrelly for Dara Brady. Next up the lads faced a young Mohill side and unfortunatley on this occasion they suffered a cruel defeat at the death after playing their part in a very fast and entertaining match.

The lads were hampered before the match with the withdrawel of Dara Brady and Killian Gray through injury and illness and their cause was further inhibited by the loss of influential midfielder Hugh Magee after ten minutes through injury. This young team showed superb battling qualities and no little skill to deal with these setbacks and stay in the game right up to the finish. Final score Mohill 0-15 Carrigallen 0-14. Team and scorers: Dermot Lyons, Peter Farrelly, Ciaran Harte, Anthony Kenny, Daniel Lyons, Derek Reilly, Francis O'Rourke, Darren McGovern (0-1), Hugh Magee, Sean McCabe (0-4), Charles McGuinness (0-1), Liam O'Rourke, Conor O'Neill (0-2), Rory Harte(0-5), Killian Ward. Subs: Raymond Reilly (0-1) for Hugh Magee (injured), Peter Donohoe for Ciaran Harte, Aaron McManus for Daniel Lyons. Keep an eye on the fixture list in next weeks paper for our quarter final against Eslin. Well done to the team and management.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

Our senior team continue their championship campaign with a quarter final match against Annaduff this Saturday evening at 7pm in Cloone. This is a huge game against a tough and experienced team. Good luck to team and management.

INJURIES

Best wishes to Dara Brady and Noel Doonan who suffered serious injuries lately. Noel underwent an operation last week and hopes to return to play some part in our championship campaign. For Dara, however, it looks like his season is over after he broke a bone in his hand during the junior championship game against Sean O' Heslins. We wish him a speedy recovery.

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Our senior team got their championship campaign off to the perfect start last Sunday with a solid if unspectacular victory over Aughnasheelin in Ballinamore. For long periods of the first half it looked like we were going to struggle but a scoring burst of 1-1 late in the half gave our lads a great boost at the interval and with the help of a strong breeze in the second we ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-6. Well done to players and management who now concentrate their minds on a clash with Bornacoola this weekend. Team: E Lyons, B Reilly, D Flynn, K Ward, T Reynolds(0-1), N Doonan, C Reilly, G Reynolds, C Richardson, A Mc Manus(1-2) E Ward, M Dolan(0-1), B O' Rourke(0-3), C Flynn(0-1), E Dolan(0-2). Subs: JP Mc Manus, M Kerrigan, D Reilly.

UPCOMING FIXTURES
Our senior team continue their championship campaign this Saturday evening in Cloone when they take on Bornacoola. Throw in time is 7:30pm. Our junior team take on Sean O' Heslins in their opening championship fixture on Sunday evening, also in Cloone. Throw in time for that match is 6:30pm. Many of the players remarked on the great support last Sunday in Ballinamore and we hope to see you all in Cloone at the weekend.

CONGRATULATIONS SEAN O'HESLINS

Many congratulations to the Sean O' Heslins club on their excellent facilities which our players and supporters had the pleasure of experiencing last weekend. Well done to all involved.
